A 1942 Parker Striped Duofold Junior, commonly known among collectors as the Duovac, finished in blue, silver and black striated celluloid with gold-filled trim. The barrel bears a clear Parker Duofold imprint and a date code of 2 with two dots, identifying production in the second quarter of 1942.

This example features remarkable barrel transparency. Warm amber light passes through the original translucent sections of the celluloid, revealing the pen's internal ink reservoir and contrasting beautifully with its darker vertical stripes. The two narrow cap bands, tapered Parker clip and Vacumatic filling system complete the design.

The Parker gold nib produces a remarkably smooth extra-fine to fine line, with essentially no perceptible drag during normal writing. It also offers some expressive line variation under deliberate, controlled pressure. This should not be confused with a flexible nib intended for sustained flex writing.

Condition

The barrel presents beautifully, with a deep polished gloss, strong original color, exceptional transparency and a crisp manufacturer imprint. The nib is clean and writes exceptionally well. The cap retains noticeable evidence of its long life, detailed below.

Restoration

The Vacumatic filling system has been disassembled and serviced, addressing the deteriorated original diaphragm and breather tube. The pen has been thoroughly cleaned, polished, reassembled and writing-tested.

Known Flaws

The cap has substantial localized cosmetic wear, particularly around its two cap bands. A repair was attempted at one point in it's life and it looks like pliers and adhesives were applied heavy handidly. These marks remain after polishing and are shown in the detailed photographs. The cap's wear contrasts with the outstanding presentation of the barrel and the quality of the writing experience. The photographs show the actual vintage pen being offered and document its present condition.
