This 1947 Parker Vacumatic Junior features Parker's Azure Pearl striped celluloid, gold-tone trim, a split-arrow clip, and two narrow cap bands. Measuring just over five inches capped, the Junior offers the proportions of a full-sized Vacumatic with more restrained trim.
Both the barrel and original Parker nib carry matching 1947 date codes. The celluloid has polished up beautifully, with strong blue striping, visible translucent sections, and a clearly legible barrel imprint.
The 14K gold Parker nib produces a wet, approximately medium line with a pleasant, smooth writing feel. It has been cleaned, smoothed, and writing-tested.
The Vacumatic filling system has been serviced with a new diaphragm. The pen fills and writes properly, with no leaks observed during testing.
Condition
The Azure Pearl celluloid presents with a strong gloss and attractive blue-and-black contrast. The gold-tone trim presents well, and the barrel imprint remains clearly readable. There are no known cracks or structural defects. Two previously pronounced raised surface blemishes, one beside the barrel imprint and another on the blind cap, were successfully polished out during restoration.
Restoration
Disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Removed deteriorated original diaphragm and stubborn retaining pellet. Installed a new Vacumatic diaphragm. Retained the original breather tube. Cleaned and smoothed the original Parker nib. Cleaned and polished the cap, barrel, blind cap, and trim. Reduced two significant raised surface blemishes. Reassembled, filled, leak-tested, and writing-tested.
Known Flaws
No known remaining cracks, structural defects, or mechanical issues. As a vintage writing instrument, minor signs of prior use may remain under close inspection.
