Lever fill

This black Gregg shorthand fountain pen dates to approximately the mid-to-late 1930s and uses a traditional lever-filling system. The most distinctive feature is the small red, white and blue enamel Gregg emblem set into the top of the cap, paired with a Gregg-marked nib. Period documentation shows this style of Official Gregg Pen in 1938.

The nib writes a fine line with a firm feel and a small amount of spring—well suited to the quick, controlled strokes these pens were intended to make. The pen has been writing-tested following restoration.

Condition

Strong gloss to the black body with light age-related wear remaining. Gold-tone trim presents well. The distinctive enamel Gregg cap-top badge retains strong red, white and blue color with visible surface wear consistent with age.

Restoration

Cleaned and polished; new ink sac installed; original pressure bar cleaned and re-seated. Filling system reassembled, tested and writing-tested.

Known Flaws

Light age related vintage microscratching and trim wear remain.
